Community Banquet Celebrates Lao Graduates and Educators

The Laotian community in Fresno came together on Saturday for a banquet to celebrate the class of 2023. The banquet was held at Wat Lao Dhamma Sacca, and it was attended by over 80 people.

The banquet began with a cultural Lao dance, then followed with speeches from educators, leaders, and temple elders. The speakers congratulated the students who had graduated from 8th grade, high school, and higher education. They also spoke about the importance of embracing Lao culture and roots, relying on mentors for guidance, and staying involved with the community.

The banquet was a wonderful opportunity to unite together and celebrate our beautiful culture and strong community. It was also a chance to congratulate the students who had graduated and to encourage them to continue to be proud of their Lao heritage. Each graduate was awarded a gift bag and pabiang, a traditional Lao scarf.

The Importance of Embracing Lao Culture and Roots

Lao culture is a rich and diverse culture that is full of history and tradition. It is important for Lao people to embrace their culture and roots, as it helps them to connect with their identity and their community. There are many ways to embrace Lao culture, such as learning about Lao history, practicing Lao customs, and speaking the language.

The Importance of Relying on Mentors for Guidance

Mentorship is an important part of life, and it is especially important for young people. Mentors can provide guidance, support, and encouragement. They can also help young people to achieve their goals. If you are looking for a mentor, there are many resources available to you. We have Lao doctors, counselors, teachers, and professionals more than happy to connect with you. You can also look for mentors through your school or at any organization based on your interests.

The Importance of Staying Involved with the Community

Staying involved with the community is a great way to connect with your culture and strengthen your own sense of self. There are many ways to stay involved, such as volunteering with LACF or the temple, attending community events, and supporting local businesses. When you stay involved with the community, you are helping to build a stronger community for everyone.
