Keynote Speaker: Sue Thammavongsa

Sou Thammavongsa is a multi-talented beauty pageant titleholder, healthcare professional, model, and occasional singer originally from upstate New York. She made history as the first person to represent Laos at the World International Organization competitions, where she was crowned Ms. Global World International 2024 and most recently, Ms. Universe World International 2025 on April 11th, 2025!

Beyond the stage, Sou is dedicated to community advocacy and healthcare education. She serves as a spokesmodel for TeiSpa Beauty and is a familiar face on fashion runways. Her work reflects a deep commitment to representation, wellness, and empowerment.

ALEC Theme: Power in the Present

This theme reflects our commitment to uplifting students in their current journeys—recognizing their resilience, creativity, and cultural identity as powerful forces shaping their futures. It’s also inspired by the work of Lao-Canadian writer Souvankham Thammavongsa, whose stories amplify the strength found in everyday moments.
