Find your Voice! Your EngLao Voice!

ALEC Fresno is a unique event that brings Lao American students and professionals together to celebrate a day of learning, growing, and empowering one another. We are grateful for everyone who made this 5th Annual Laotian Educational Conference a success. Thank you to all the volunteers, sponsors, and students for making ALEC Fresno 2023 a memorable one.

The morning of the conference was filled with beautiful Laotian performances and inspiring speeches. Guest speakers included the Superintendent of Fresno Unified School District, Bob Nelson and President of Fresno State, Dr. Saúl Jiménez-Sandoval. Our keynote speaker, Khetphet “KP” Phagnasay, talked about his experience as an actor, director, producer, acting coach and star in one of Netflix’s Top Trending Shows.

This year’s conference theme was “Find your Voice! Your EngLao Voice!” The event was filled with workshops, raffles, networking opportunities, delicious Lao food, and so much more! We especially enjoyed seeing our students engage in the games and workshop activities. 

We had raffles and games for those who attended the conference, allowing them to win exciting prizes donated by our career/ resource fair vendors. In addition, we provided students with valuable resources and information about financial security and career development. Throughout the conference we highlighted Laotian trailblazers and we educated on Lao literacy, language, and culture.

This year’s conference had more than 500 students and guests, the biggest ALEC Fresno yet! We would like to thank everyone who attended the 5th Annual Laotian American Educational Conference. It was a great success, and we had such a wonderful time hearing from our amazing speakers, and engaging in meaningful conversations. We hope that you all found something valuable to take away from this event.
